Digicash Payments, a Luxembourg-based mobile payments provider, is testing a system that uses a beacon at the point of sale to accept payments using Bluetooth, Near Field Communication and QR codes.
Digicash enables payments from a user's bank account using SEPA credit transfers. The new feature is integrated with Digicash Apps issued by retail banks. Individual users "do not need to link a credit card or to top-up a wallet," the company says in a March 14 release.

Three retail banks: BCEE, POST and BIL started testing the new Digicash Beacon technology in the past few weeks. The new system is also being tested with several retailers including CORA supermarkets and Apple Premium reseller Lineheart.
Digicash plans a large-scale roll-out for the second half of 2014.
