MasterCard Inc. now offers a mobile receipt application as part of its Smart Data reporting system, addressing the need for corporate cardholders to file receipts for expenses.
Users of the Smart Data Mobile Receipt Capture App take photos of paper receipts with their smartphone camera. The app then stores the receipt image, allowing users to discard the paper receipt after uploading.
“Providing companies with comprehensive data on spending is the first step in helping to streamline their expense management,” says Robert Reeves, group head of commercial information platforms global commercial payments at MasterCard, in a Mar. 21 press release. “Our Smart Data products provide the most up-to-date tools and analytics that turn expense management from concern to success in a challenging business environment like the one today.”
The app is available on iOS, Android and Blackberry devices.
MasterCard’s Smart Data tools are used in 130 countries by hundreds of issuers.
The New York-based financial services company is also testing a fueling app for automotive fleets. The Mobile Fleet e-Receipt App allows drivers to enter the expense data required by managers, including the type of fuel, amount purchased and the price per gallon.
