Arcos Dorados, which manages McDonald’s restaurants in Latin America, plans to use payment software from VeriFone Systems Inc., the companies announced Feb. 28.
San Jose, Calif.-based VeriFone will provide its Payware Merchant software to process transactions at the restaurant manager’s terminals, the vendor noted in a press release. Arcos Dorados initially plans to use the technology at 220 McDonald’s restaurants in Argentina and Uruguay, according to the release.
“Our ability to provide a regional hosted services package was the key element” in this deal, Gustavo Jimenez, vice president and general manager at VeriFone Latin America, said in the release.
Acros Dorados operates about 1,850 McDonald’s restaurants in South America. The McDonald’s brand is owned by McDonald’s Corp. of Oak Brook, Ill.
