PayPal Inc. is continuing its wearable payments push with the introduction of an app for the new Android Wear smartwatch line.
The app, which will launch in beta this week, follows PayPal's launch of apps for
"At PayPal, we see wearables as a huge opportunity to create seamless, context driven payment experiences that truly change the way people interact with their devices," Richard Mercille, senior software engineer at PayPal, says in a June 25
"Once available, the PayPal app will allow Android Wear device owners to check-in to pay at local stores, redeem offers, and receive payment notifications while on the go (and in some cases with just the command of your voice)," Mercille writes.
During its June 25 product demonstration, Google also showed how consumers could make mobile purchases from the Eat24 app, which lets users order food for take-out and delivery.
