Legacy scoring criteria can leave millions of potentially creditworthy consumers outside your addressable market - not necessarily because they present greater risk, but because their credit files are new, inactive or lack traditional tradelines. This research examines 33 million U.S. adults who are not typically captured by legacy scoring models: approximately 2 million new-to-credit consumers, 24 million dormant-file consumers and 7 million consumers with no tradelines.

For senior leaders across banks, credit unions, credit card companies, auto lenders and finance companies, the implications are immediate: broader market visibility, more precise risk identification and distinct paths to responsible portfolio growth. Nearly one-third of the expanded population scores 620 or higher, and consumers in comparable score bands demonstrate closely aligned default behavior with traditionally scored populations. In mortgage lending, the analysis identifies almost 5 million additional consumers under specified eligibility criteria, representing an origination opportunity of up to $1 trillion.
