Senior Director, Small Business Banking
Mike has been with CIBC since 2010 and has been spearheading CIBC’s resurgence in the Canadian Small Business Banking segment.
In his current role as Sr. Director, Small Business Banking, Mike is responsible for providing leadership, guidance and direction in four main areas to support Business Banking’s Small Business strategic objectives: (i) developing Segment Strategy and initiatives, (ii) leveraging and developing the capabilities of front line staff, (iii) facilitating the leadership and management of the front line staff, and (iv) testing, piloting and executing tools, structures or products.
In the past year, under Mike’s leadership, the bank has made a foray into the “Virtual Advisor” strategy to improve Client Experience and Revenue per Customer results. Using webcams and Live Meeting, the centralized team of 18 is capable of providing joint client meeting support nationally which has resulted in remarkable increases in the number of accounts opened and the number of products (including Credit) sold in the initial client meeting.
Prior to joining CIBC, Mike was Sr. Vice President, Small Business Banking at Raiffeisen International. Based in Vienna, Austria, Raiffeisen managed a network of 15 banks in countries throughout Central and Eastern Europe, South Eastern Europe and the former Soviet Union. The Small Business franchise was present in 3000 branches, including a mix of small and large bank operations ranging from a 25 branch footprint to a 1200 branch footprint.
