Trans Union exhibits credit scoring tool.

CHICAGO -- Trans Union Corp. exhibited the recently introduced Empirica credit scoring system at the American Bankers Association's bank card conference in Chicago.

The system, developed with Fair, Isaac & Co. and based on credit bureau data, comes in different versions for the credit card, auto loan, installment loan, and personal finance markets.

The Empirica Bankcard product predicts the likelihood of future delinquency, chargeoff, and bankruptcy in an account.

"Empirica looks at the overall risk associated with any credit situation, but Empirica Bankcard returns a score that considers those factors that are especially relevant to the bank card environment," said Michelle Halre, senior product research manager at Chicago-based Trans Union.

The predictire techniques can help card issuers expand credit lines, cross-sell, make pre-screen solicitations, increase approval rates, lower delinquencies, and improve profits, Trans Union said.
