Card briefs: Tyme Will Tell of Shorter ATM-Slip Numbers

MILWAUKEE - Tyme Corp., the nation's 21st largest regional electronic banking network, has instituted a policy in which the words "For your protection full card number not printed," will appear on all receipts issued at its automated teller machines.

The move comes after a Federal Reserve Board ruling, last March, dropping the requirement that banks include a customer's entire account number on an ATM receipt.

Tyme, like all of the major regional networks, immediately took advantage of the account number truncation rule. It is printing the eight- word message to alert consumers to the change.

Tyme has nearly 500 participating financial institutions that own and operate about 1,400 ATMs and more than 4,600 point of sale terminals at over 1,000 retail locations in Wisconsin, Minnesota, Illinois, and Michigan's Upper Peninsula. The network processed almost 66 million transactions in 1994.
