MasterCard Hires Electronic Banking Pro

MasterCard International has named J. Randall Peyser a vice president in its MasterBanking unit.

In his new position, Mr. Peyser will develop remote banking products and services for MasterCard member financial institutions.

"Randy's extensive experience in the management, planning, implementation, and marketing of financial and information services will be invaluable to the MasterBanking program as we seek to develop strategic partnerships and enhanced services," said A. Christian Fre-drick, senior vice president of remote banking and U.S. strategic planning at MasterCard.

Mr. Peyser, who will start his new job March 20, comes to MasterCard with 15 years' experience in electronic banking and financial services, according to MasterCard.

Most recently he served as president of Interactive Transaction Partners, a joint venture between EDS Corp., U S West, and France Telecom.

ITP's mission is the creation of a platform for interactive services, such as home banking and electronic bill payment, for consumers and small businesses.

The ITP partnership was conceived, developed, and negotiated by Mr. Peyser.

Before his work at ITP, he was a vice president and served on the executive committee for EDS's electronic commerce division. In this job he identified international markets for financial and information systems in the health care, financial services, and government sectors.

The MasterBanking unit, founded in 1993, has 18 participating financial institutions. These institutions offer electronic bill payment via touch- tone phone and personal computer.

Together these institutions account for 375,000 transactions per month. The monthly transactions carry a value of $90 million.
