Card briefs: Maker of LaserCard Posts Quarterly Loss

Drexler Technology Corp. said it lost $364,000, or 4 cents a share, in its fiscal third quarter ended Dec. 31. But revenues were up 22%, to $1.6 million.

The company, which sells the LaserCard optical encoding technology, earned $162,000, or 2 cents a share, in the year-earlier quarter.

Drexler said it shipped 130,800 of its memory cards and 267 read/write devices in the latest quarter, compared to only 12,800 cards and 30 reader/writers in the year-earlier period.
