SUB LIMITS: Proposal by the Federal Reserve Board to limit transactions between banks and subsidiaries that are engaged in activities the parent may not undertake. Expected to be published shortly. Comments due Sept. 3.

FOREIGN BRANCHES: Proposal by the Federal Deposit Insurance Corp. to exempt well-run, well-capitalized institutions from filing applications to open foreign branches or make foreign investments. The plan also would allow FDIC-regulated banks to invest and trade government securities of countries in which they do not have a branch. To be published shortly. Comments due 60 days later.

TRUST BIZ: Proposal by the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency to clarify that activities in which investment advice is merely incidental to other activities will not be supervised as part of a national bank's trust business. Published Wednesday. Comments due Sept. 8.

SETTLEMENT: Proposal by the Fed to create a same-time settlement service for banks. Published June 12. Comments due Aug. 11.

MUTUAL THRIFTS: Proposal by the Office of Thrift Supervision to let federal mutual holding companies set up state-chartered stock holding companies. This structure would let thrifts avoid paying high taxes in stock buybacks. Published June 5. Comments due Aug. 4.

PRIVACY: Request by the interagency Consumer Electronic Payments Task Force for comment on privacy issues raised by smart cards and other electronic money technologies. Published May 30. Comments due Aug. 15.

MONEY LAUNDERING: Proposal by the Treasury Department to bring check cashers and other money transmitters under money laundering reporting rules. Published May 21. Comments due Aug. 19.

RESERVE ACCOUNTS: Proposal by the Fed to address interstate branching by limiting banks to a single Federal Reserve System account. Published May 20. Comments due July 21.

SECURITIES DEALERS: Proposal by the FDIC to drop a rule requiring state nonmember banks to submit information on their municipal securities dealers. Published May 16. Comments due July 15.

DEPOSIT INSURANCE: Proposal by the FDIC to ease record keeping requirements for custodial accounts, streamline accounting treatment of living trusts, and give heirs six months of extra coverage after a depositor dies. Published May 14. Comments due Aug. 12.
