Briefs: German Bank Elects Chase Veteran as CEO

Germany's BHF-Bank Aktien-gesellschaft said its supervisory board has elected a former Chase Manhattan executive as chief executive officer.

Ernst Michel Kruse, 52, a former Chase vice chairman responsible for finance, risk management, and global services, succeeds Wolfgang Strutz, 63, who is leaving his post because of poor health.

Mr. Kruse will join the bank's managing directors as a regular member Feb. 1. The German-born banker joined Chase in 1971 and spent the next 25 years working for the bank in Europe, Asia, and the United States.
