MasterCard Picks 'Teacher' for Electronic Commerce Class

Claremont Technology Group, a fast-growing systems integration company, said MasterCard International has chosen it to conduct electronic commerce classes in the MasterCard University program.

Based on its Internet and intranet expertise, Claremont said, it has created a two-day interactive workshop that includes a survey of how existing payment systems will be affected by technological changes.

"Equally important, Claremont also covers the role of new products and services such as certification authorities, smart cards, electronic wallets, and merchant-based payment managers," said Paul Cosgrave, the company's chairman and chief executive officer.

The program is emblematic of MasterCard's effort to give member institutions "the tools they need to understand the challenges of this emerging marketplace," said Steve Mott, the association's senior vice president of electronic commerce-new ventures.
