Tech Bytes: Fidelity Sells 2 Banks On Year-2000 Software

Advisor Technology Services, a unit of Fidelity Investments, announced that Harris Trust and Savings Bank and SunTrust Banks Inc. will be the first users of the company's year- 2000-compliant trust software.

The software, called Ampreferred Plus, handles trust accounting and securities processing functions. It has been written to help banks avoid so-called year 2000 programming problems, which involve legacy computer code that deals incorrectly with dates after Dec. 31, 1999.
