Card Briefs: CCN Group Wins Deal to Handle HP Card

CCN Group said it has won a multimillion-dollar contract to provide management and processing support for Hewlett-Packard Co.'s HP Card.

The private-label computer retailing card, which has been launched in Italy and Germany and is to be available in several other European countries by midyear, is designed to foster customer loyalty. Equipment purchased with the card can be exchanged or traded in later.

CCN said it won the business because of its one-stop management and customer service capability. The project will include the creation of a comprehensive marketing data base for the HP Card.

CCN is a global credit services company owned by Great Universal Stores of Britain. It is best known in the United States for its recent acquisition of Experian Corp., formerly TRW Information Systems and Services.
