IN BRIEF: National City Offers Web, Dial-Up Banking

National City Corp. has introduced an electronic banking service that lets customers gain access to the bank using the Internet or direct-dial links.

Customers who use National City Online Banking can check account balances, transfer funds, pay bills, and download data into personal financial management programs, such as Intuit Inc.'s Quicken, Microsoft's Money, and Meca Software's Managing Your Money.

National City customers who use the direct toll-free connection receive a complementary copy of Managing Your Money software. Customers can use the Internet and direct-dial options interchangeably.

"This service gives customers complete access to their National City checking, mortgage, credit card, and savings accounts with real-time information," said Matthew E. Burns, vice president of electronic banking at National City.

Customer support, available seven days a week by phone or e-mail, is free.
