Southwest Bank Names Executive

Southwest Bank of Texas, Houston, a subsidiary of Southwest Bancorporation of Texas, has hired two senior vice presidents and promoted an executive to that rank.

Newly hired by the $1.9 billion-asset bank are Noel Byrne and Micheline Ellas.

Mr. Byrne heads commercial lending at the Galleria branch and will also do so at the Greenspoint branch in North Houston when it opens later this year. He was vice president and manager of the North Houston commercial lending group at Wells Fargo Bank and earlier at First Interstate Bank of Texas, whose parent Wells bought in 1996.

Ms. Ellas, an accountant, was hired as Southwest Bank's internal audit manager. She was with USAA Federal Savings Bank in San Antonio and has 19 years' experience in banking,

Fernando Parra, who was promoted, is the manager of private banking and mortgage lending at the Galleria branch. He too has 19 years' banking experience; he joined Southwest Bank in 1990 from First Interstate Bank of Texas.

Southwest Bank also hired a vice president and promoted an employee to that rank.

Bonnie Granado, newly hired, is senior community lending officer at the Post Oak Parkway branch. She will be responsible for the mortgage needs of people buying single-family homes. Ms. Granado, an 18-year banking veteran, was a mortgage banker at Chase Bank of Texas.

Assistant vice president Christina Malanczuk, an underwriter and portfolio manager at the main Houston branch, was promoted to vice president. She joined Southwest Bank in 1995 from Tomball-based First Bank of Texas, at which she had been an assistant vice president.
