Short Takes: Dreyfus Picks Software To Give Account Data

Dreyfus Corp., the $101 billion-asset mutual fund division of Mellon Bank Corp., Pittsburgh, has agreed to use software from Innovision Corp. to provide account information to customers.

Innovision Financial Server will let people who buy Dreyfus investment products through a third-party broker-dealer "reconcile their accounts on- line," said Charles Cardona, an executive vice president at Dreyfus Service Corp. The software provides account access using the Open Financial Exchange, or OFX, standard. Instead of typing mailed statements into Quicken or another OFX-enabled personal financial software package, customers can check their balances through a dial-up connection, Mr. Cardona said.

Dreyfus is talking to a couple of brokerage firms that distribute its funds about using Innovision, he said.
