Tech Bytes: Royal of Scotland Unit Taps Fair, Isaac System

Fair, Isaac & Co. said its technology was chosen by Capital Bank PLC, a consumer and commercial finance subsidiary of Royal Bank of Scotland, to manage "whole life cycle" customer relationships.

The Birmingham, England-based bank is installing Fair, Isaac's Triad 5.0 adaptive control system for customer profitability and the StrategyWare decision support system for account originations.

"The comprehensive, in-house solution will enable us to maximize the potential of our large and diverse customer base, bearing in mind the relationships with our affinity partners," said Alan Bottomley, Capital Bank's head of consumer risk management. Operating in-house "will give us the greater flexibility in strategy design needed to gain a significant competitive advantage."

He said Capital's choice of Fair, Isaac was influenced by its past work with the California company. Triad software is used with more than nine of 10 credit card accounts in the United Kingdom.
