Card Briefs: Citi's American Airlines Card Goes Platinum

Citibank and American Airlines have added platinum to their AAdvantage cards for frequent travelers.

By making purchases with the Citibank Platinum Select AAdvantage card, cardholders can earn unlimited air miles. By buying tickets on American Airlines or American Eagle, they earn double mileage points.

The platinum card, which has a $125 annual fee, also offers $500,000 of travel accident insurance and a dedicated customer service line. Citibank said it mailed upgrade offers in December to silver and gold AAdvantage cardholders.

The AAdvantage mileage program, which American began in 1981, has more than 30 million members.
