Verifone Veteran to Lead Finance Software Firm

Roger Bertman, former vice president of corporate development at Verifone Inc., has been elected chairman of Personal Solutions Corp.

The two-year-old company makes personal financial management software and Electronacheck, an electronic checkbook register that had attracted Mr. Bertman's interest when he worked at Verifone.

Personal Solutions recently raised $1 million from several investors, including Verifone, a Hewlett-Packard Co. subsidiary. It has said Electronacheck will be available in the first quarter of 1999 and be sold through banks.

As chairman of Personal Solutions, Mr. Bertman will work full-time to cultivate relationships with banks, transaction processors, and software developers.

"I've been impressed by the company's unique position and opportunity to deliver money management solutions to consumers," Mr. Bertman said. "I'm excited about the prospects of helping tap those opportunities and contributing to improving the way consumers manage their finances."

Mr. Bertman, who spearheaded Verifone's Internet commerce strategy before overseeing strategic investments, left the company in July.
