In Brief: Investment Bank Hires a Partner for N.Y.

Provender Capital Group, an investment bank with offices in New York and Los Angeles, has appointed Derek K. Jones as a partner in its New York office.

Mr. Jones will be responsible for identifying, developing, and managing equity investments in the specialty finance and consumer-related industries. Mr. Jones was hired from the private equity shop Cornerstone Equity Investors, where he was a partner. Before joining that firm in 1988, he spent two years as a corporate finance analyst with Paris-based Banque Paribas.
