Dempsey Takes Chairmanship At Warwick In New York

Warwick Community Bancorp in Warwick, N.Y., has named chief executive officer Timothy A. Dempsey to also be its chairman, a newly created post.

Mr. Dempsey has been president and CEO of its Warwick Savings Bank since 1985 and a director since 1973. Earlier he worked for Chase Manhattan Bank and as a bank examiner at the New York State Banking Department.

The $423 million-asset holding company went public 13 months ago.

Mr. Dempsey relinquished the presidency of the holding company to Ronald J. Gentile, who was executive vice president.

Mr. Gentile remains its chief operating officer. He came to Warwick Savings in 1990 from the Federal Deposit Insurance Corp., where he had been a senior bank examiner.
