Premara Bank in North Carolina Opens D.C. Branch

Premara Bank (PARA) in Charlotte, N.C., has opened a branch in downtown Washington.

The $236 million-asset company announced Monday that the branch will serve trade associations, lawyers, lobbyists and other local professionals. Premara already has five branches in North Carolina and South Carolina.

"We have literally searched the world for the best ways to make banking efficient and, dare I say, fun," John Kreighbaum, Premara's chief executive, said in a press release.

The Washington branch is expected to be the first of several new branches for Premara. The company also said that it is looking for acquisitions in the Washington metropolitan area and the Carolinas.

"The area from Washington down the I-95 and I-85 corridors is one of the fastest growing in the country," Kreighbaum said. "We are poised to take advantage of that by bringing America's most innovative bank to those communities."
