Centrue Financial in Illinois Names New Chairman

Centrue Financial in Ottawa, Ill., has named a new chairman, after its longtime chairman resigned for health reasons.

The $944 million-asset company named Dennis Battles chairman of the holding company and Centrue Bank, effective Thursday.

Battles has been a Centrue director since 2012. He previously was head of corporate banking at U.S. Bancorp. He was also previously chief credit officer at Mercantile Bancorp., a St. Louis company that was later acquired by a U.S. Bancorp predecessor bank.

Dennis McDonnell, 72, resigned as chairman of both the company and Centrue Bank. McDonnell had been a Centrue director since 2000 and chairman since 2002. McDonnell is also the retired chairman of McDonnell Investment Management, an asset-management firm.
