Sandy Spring Bancorp in Olney, Md., has appointed executives from the technology and legal industries to newly created seats on its board.
The $4.6 billion-asset bank on Wednesday appointed Mona Abutaleb, chief executive of tech outsourcing and cloud services provider mindSHIFT Technologies, and James Maiwurm, chairman emeritus and senior counsel at law firm Squire Patton Boggs. The company's board now totals 12 members.
Abutaleb was appointed to the audit and risk committees and Maiwurm the audit and compensation committees. They will start their committee service Jan. 1.
Abutaleb, 53, has worked with mindSHIFT since 2006. She became CEO in 2014 and oversaw the company's acquisition by Ricoh Americas Holdings.
Maiwurm, 66, has been with Squire since 2003 and ran it as global chief executive from 2009 to 2014.
Separately, Mei Xu resigned from Sandy Spring's board on Wednesday. The company is not looking to fill her seat, according to a bank spokeswoman.
