WASHINGTON — House Financial Services Committee Chairman Jeb Hensarling, R-Texas, is attempting to add 15 different bills to legislation that would secure funding for transportation projects.
The Texas Republican said he plans to offer a single amendment that includes the various pieces of legislation, all of which have already been approved as standalone bills by the House.
Among them is the Eliminate Privacy Notice Confusion Act, which would shield financial institutions that do not share customers' information with third parties from the annual privacy notice requirement, unless they modify their privacy policy.
Hensarling's amendment also includes a piece of legislation that would allow certain privately-insured credit unions to apply for Federal Home Loan Bank membership.
The two bills were previously approved by the House but were not taken up in the Senate.
Another measure, which received unanimous support this year from the Financial Services Committee, would allow more banks to be eligible for on-site examinations every 18 months, rather than every year.
The amendment is expected to be approved when the House votes on it on Wednesday. The overall $325 billion transportation bill is slated for a final vote in the House on Thursday.
