JJ Keever

Senior Deputy Executive Director

J. J. (Jeff) Keever has served in the Port of Hampton Roads since 1977 when he joined the staff of the Hampton Roads Maritime Association and Hampton Roads Shipping Association. In 1992 he was named Executive Vice President of the Hampton Roads Maritime Association and Hampton Roads Shipping Association. In November 2004, Mr. Keever joined the Virginia Port Authority as Deputy Executive Director and currently serves as the Senior Deputy Executive Director, External Affairs. In this new capacity, he works directly with Executive Director Jerry A. Bridges to oversee all Government and External Affairs.Mr. Keever serves as Chairman of the Maritime Institute’s Executive Advisory Council at Old Dominion University and has recently been appointed to serve on the Surface Transportation Board’s Railroad Shipper Transportation Advisory Council. He also serves as a member of the Board of Directors for Virginians for Better Transportation and the Virginia District Export Council.Mr. Keever was honored at the 2001 annual dinner of the Hampton Roads Maritime Association when he was named as the recipient of the prestigious Distinguished Service Award. He was also privileged to receive the Society of Maritime Industries Distinguished Service Award in February 2004.He received his B.A. in Political Science from the University of Richmond in 1976 and has two children, a daughter and a son who attend Norfolk Academy.
