Miguel Santana

City Administrative Officer

In 2009, Miguel Santana was appointed as the City Administrative Officer for the City of Los Angeles. Miguel has direct oversight of the City’s $7.2 billion budget, labor negotiations, risk management, debt management and other major policy issues. Prior to this position, Miguel served as Deputy Chief Executive Officer for Los Angeles County, the largest county in the United States, and provided oversight to all of the County's social service departments which represented $9 billion of the $22 billion annual County budget. With more than 20 years of experience managing numerous legislative, fiscal, political, and community issues, Miguel Santana was Managing Director at Sonnenschein, Nath and Rosenthal consulting on high profile cases. Preceding this position, Mr. Santana served as Chief of Staff to one of five Board Supervisors for Los Angeles County. Miguel Santana has a Master's Degree in Public Administration from Harvard University and serves on Boards of the Mexican American Legal Defense Educational Fund, the Washington-based Latino Leaders Network, LA Plaza de Cultura y Artes, and United Way of Greater Los Angeles. In 2011, Miguel was awarded CFO of the Year by the Los Angeles Business Journal.
