Richard A. Ciccarone is Managing Director and Chief Research Officer of McDonnell Investment Management, LLC (McDonnell). He is responsible for managing the company’s investment research resources. Additionally, Mr. Ciccarone is President, CEO of Merritt Research Services, LLC, a municipal database research company affiliated with McDonnell. Prior to McDonnell, Mr. Ciccarone served as Senior Vice President and Co-Head of Fixed Income at Van Kampen Investments Inc. (Van Kampen), where his responsibilities centered on municipal asset management. Mr. Ciccarone also was Senior Vice President, as well as Co-Head of Municipal Investments and Director of Research at Van Kampen. Earlier in his career, Mr. Ciccarone held various executive positions with EVEREN Securities and its predecessor firms, in addition to Harris Bank in Chicago. He has 35 years of investment industry experience.Mr. Ciccarone has a BA from Miami University (Ohio) and an MA from the University of Akron. He is Co-Founder and past National Chairman of the National Federation of Municipal Analysts (NFMA) and has received numerous awards and distinctions as the top buy side research director and top municipal generalist analyst from SMITH’s Research & Gradings and The Bond Buyer, including first team All American Fixed-Income Analyst from Institutional Investor magazine. He has also received Lifetime and Career Achievement Awards from Smiths as well as from the NFMA. He has authored chapters in the The Handbook of Municipal Bonds and The Oxford Handbook of State and Local Government.
