Scott Shapiro
Senior Advisor to the MayorScott Shapiro is a senior advisor to Mayor Jim Gray of Lexington, Ky. Scott manages projects that include revitalizing the citys downtown through the potential conversion of one-way streets to two-way traffic and building a joint Lexington-Louisville economic-development initiative with the Brookings Institution. Most recently he led an effort that successfully transformed Lexingtons troubled police and fire pension system.Scott comes to the Mayors office having just earned a masters in public administration degree from Harvards Kennedy School of Government, where he went, at age 40, to pursue a new career in public service. Prior to that switch Scott was largely in the private sector in New York City, where he built and sold a consulting company and was a senior executive with a publicly traded health care company.
