WASHINGTON-The following statistics are courtesy of Destination DC. All figures are for 2010; stats for 2011 are not expected to be available until later this year.
* 17.28 million people visited Washington in 2010, including 1.7 million international visitors.
* Washington was the 7th-most visited American city for international travelers in 2010, above Honolulu/Oahu (1.63 million) and below Las Vegas (2.43 million).
* Visitors to Washington spent almost $5.7 billion in 2010.
* Destination DC estimates that each visitor to Washington generates $329 in expenditures, $163 in wages and $55 in tax receipts. A new job is created for every 242 visitors to DC.
* 45% of visitors to DC in 2010 were business travelers.
