ABNB FCU Names Mallon Its New CEO

ABNB Federal Credit Union, Chesapeake, Va., has selected Charles Anthony Mallon, Jr., to be its next president and CEO, replacing the retiring Carl Ratcliff.

Mallon will take over the helm of the $541 million-asset institution in January.

ABNB FCU described Mallon as a "proven credit union executive," noting he has served more than 26 years at $859 million Wright Patman Congressional Federal Credit Union in Washington, D.C. He began his career at the credit union as a member service representative, and was appointed to president and CEO in 2007.

During his time leading Congressional FCU, Mallon is credited with spearheading the contemporary transformation of the credit union's service and solutions culture. As a result, the credit union increased market share through membership growth and greater product and service usage.

"The selection of Mr. Mallon demonstrates the board's continued commitment to engage a management team dedicated to providing exceptional financial products and service to the ABNB FCU membership," the credit union said in a statement.

Mary Melchers, chairman of ABNB FCU's board of directors, said, "Mr. Mallon has proven to be a CEO who embodies the credit union philosophy of people helping people. The ABNB board looks forward to his leadership and serving the Southeastern Hampton Roads and Currituck County, N.C., communities."

Mallon said the CEO position at ABNB FCU "represents an exciting opportunity to combine my personal and professional values with the credit union's rich member service culture."

"The credit union movement was founded on the vision of co-workers and neighbors joining together to assist each other financially: People Helping People. ABNB FCU is dedicated to making that vision a reality throughout the Hampton Roads community. I look forward to working with the board of directors and leading the team of highly skilled professionals at ABNB FCU."
