WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – Allegacy FCU has opened a new non-profit entity, the Center for Smart Financial Choices, which it said will help consumers build skills to better manage their money.
The Center is located at the credit union’s corporate headquarters and will offer educational courses at both basic and advanced levels to the public starting this fall. It will be partnering with Winston-Salem/Forsyth County Schools for a special series of classes for students who have developmental disabilities.
“The ultimate goal of the Center is to assist people with making smart financial choices by encouraging financial responsibility and helping establish healthy personal finance habits throughout their lives,” said Ike Keener, Allegacy’s president. “Courses are geared to coincide with the stages in a person’s life, from a 5-year-old just learning about money to a youth applying to college, or to a 75-year-old looking to distribute their assets.”
