LAS VEGAS – Aloha Pacific FCU said yesterday it is expanding into Las Vegas with a deal for a branch operated by troubled Silver State Schools CU.
Aloha Pacific on Nov. 1 will take over the lease of a branch that Silver State Schools plans to close as part of cost-cutting.
The one-time $1 billion credit union closed five branches earlier this year as part of a supervisory agreement with state regulators after a $51 million loss last year.
Aloha Pacific said there are as many as 140,000 Hawaiians living in southern Nevada.
