MECHANICSBURG, Penn. – AmeriChoice FCU, one of three credit unions set back by last year’s federal court ruling striking down a broad community charter, has been approved to add 300,000 people in two surrounding counties to its field of membership instead.

AmeriChoice was one of three credit union approved by NCUA to serve 1.2 million people in five counties surrounding the state capitol of Harrisburg which was struck down as too broad by a federal court. The other two credit unions are Members 1st FCU and New Cumberland FCU.
The expanded charter will allow the $165 million AmeriChoice to add Dauphin and Perry counties to its existing charter encompassing Cumberland County and its 300,000 residents.
