FAIRFAX, Va. – Apple FCU added more than $100,000 in new deposits through a savings contest waged between students and staff at two in-school branches here.

The “Feed the Pig” contest pitted students and employees at Apple’s Stonewall Jackson High School branch against those at nearby Osbourn Park High School to see which branch could raise the most new deposits.
The two student-run branches saved a total of $108,000 for the month of April, with Stonewall Jackson students feeding at the trough to the tune of $74,000, which won them a trophy.
As part of the promotion, the $1 billion credit union sponsored financial education workshops and a prize for each school’s biggest student and staff savers for the month of April.
