Arizona Central Inks Partnership With Local NBA, WNBA Teams

PHOENIX — Arizona Central Credit Union on Wednesday said it signed a multi-year marketing partnership agreement with the Phoenix Suns and Mercury basketball teams of the NBA and WNBA, respectively.

Both teams play their home games at the US Airways Center here.

Arizona Central becomes the second credit union in the past two weeks to connect with an NBA team, following $9.1 billion Golden 1 CU's deal to have the naming rights to the Sacramento Kings' new arena.

The $437 million CU said specifics of the sponsorship and details on special events will be announced at a later date before the new NBA season starts this fall.

According to Todd Pearson, president and CEO of Arizona Central CU, the credit union and the two teams eventually will announce joint events that bring together the Phoenix Suns' Gorilla, one of the more famous mascots in the NBA, and Molly & Moe, the official mascots of ACCU's "Monkey Money" savings program for kids 12 years old and younger.

There also are expected to be special promotions and events that focus on efforts important to all parties, such as "Get Fit" nights and a home mortgage giveaway.

The combined efforts of the Phoenix Suns, Phoenix Mercury and Phoenix Suns Charities have invested more than $15 million in the community through monetary and autographed item donations, benefiting hundreds of non-profit organizations throughout Arizona, the organizations said.

Founded in 1939, Arizona Central CU now serves more than 55,000 members across Arizona with locations in Phoenix, Tucson, Flagstaff and Show Low.
