DALEVILLE, Ala. — Army Aviation Center FCU announced Monday that Robert (Bobby) Michael has been named the $1.1 billion credit union's new president and chief executive officer.
Michael succeeds Jim Mitchell, who retired from AACFCU after 29 years at the helm.
Michael has spent the last nine years as CEO of $60 million-asset CORE CU in Statesboro, Ga., helping to double the size of the institution between 2005 and 2012. Michael also helped CORE receive its LICU designation from NCUA and CDFI designation from the U.S. Treasury Department.
Prior to serving at CORE, Michael was president and CEO at Modesto's First FCU, Modesto, Calif., and worked in Georgia as a CPA.
Army Aviation Center's board chairman Charles Mingus said in a statement that Michael "comes to AACFCU with a great deal of experience in a leadership capacity and is just the individual to lead AACFCU in its path of growth and development."
Army Aviation Center FCU serves more than 120,000 members worldwide and earned $5.6 million in net income last year.
