BECU Goes Viral To Introduce New U Washington Debit Card

TUKWILA, Wash. – BECU and the University of Washington produced a YouTube video featuring world-famous saxophone player Kenny G, Bill Gates, Sr., TV star Richard Karn of the hit sitcom Home Improvement, and other famous UW Alumni singing the university’s fight song, “Bow Down to Washington,” to introduce the new BECU/UW MasterCard Gold Debit Card yesterday.

The UW debit card is available to all individuals who open a free BECU Checking Account online or at any BECU location. Every cardholder receives special MasterCard “gold” benefits at no charge, and free fraud monitoring protection.

The launch video features recognizable UW alumni entertainers, athletes and entrepreneurs from the past and present, performing the UW fight song. The video will be distributed via email and social networks such as Twitter and Facebook, and can be seen at www.becu.org/uwdebit.

Joining the sing-along are: Bill Gates, Sr., a prominent Seattle attorney and father of the computer software mogul; UW basketball star and current Boston Celtics guard Nate Robinson; former Seattle SuperSonics star Detlef Schrempf; UW football legends Sonny Sixkiller, Damon Huard and Brock Huard; global travel guru Rick Steves; UW “superfan” Captain Husky and his Deputy Dawg; Husky women’s basketball star Elise Woodward and actress Nancy Guppy of the 1990s sketch-comedy show “Almost Live!”
