TUKWILA, Wash. – BECU plans to launch a debit card in conjunction with the University of Washington today, marking the first credit union to have a partnership of this type with the university.
U.S. Bank and Bank of America are among the institutions that have cards and financial services in conjunction with Washington universities.
BECU has sponsored UW athletics for three years, mostly through purchasing signs at sports venues. The introduction of the debit card marks an increase of the credit union’s involvement with the university.
BECU, formerly known as Boeing Employees CU, operates two branches on the UW campus and two ATMs. It also has sponsorship deals with Seattle University.
