BETHPAGE, N.Y. – Bethpage FCU, which has a strong relationship with Long Island’s gay population, has introduced a new affinity program which will make a donation to the Gay Lesbian Bisexual Transgender Center when its supporters open new checking and savings accounts at the credit union.
Under the program, supporters of the GLBT group who open up new accounts will get a $50 bonus and the nonprofit will get a $50 donation from the credit union. The group’s logo will be available on checks and debit cards.
The $4.5-billion credit union said it has provided strong support for the area’s gay and lesbian population, sponsoring last year’s GLBT Prom and the community meeting room at the GLBT’s Garden City center. The credit union also sponsors a tax assistance program for the Gay and Lesbian Youth organization.
