TALLAHASSEE, Fla. State regulators have awarded Peoples CU a broad community charter expansion covering almost 3 million residents in greater Miami.
The ruling by the Florida Office of Financial Regulation will allow the $80-million, Pembroke Pines-based credit union, which already serves greater Miami-Dade, Broward and Palm Beach counties, to also Hillsborough, Pinellas, Pasco, Highlands and DeSoto counties, a field of membership that covers more than 6 million people.
The state regulator also is reviewing an application from ECU CU, which serves employees of Eckerd and Rite Aid drugstore chains, to serve employees of CVS in 25 states and the District of Columbia.
