Big Oregon Merger Cleared By NCUA

ALEXANDRIA, Va. – NCUA reported Friday it has approved the merger for First Community FCU in Coquille, Ore., with SOFCU Community FCU in nearby Grants Pass, creating a credit union with almost $700 million in assets serving 15 counties straddling Oregon and Washington.

NCUA approved four more mergers in Wisconsin, including allowing giants Summit CU and Community First CU to acquire two troubled small credit unions, Sauk County Employees CU and Menasha Corporate Employees CU, respectively.

NCUA also approved mergers combining two $90 million Ogden, Utah credit unions, Alliance Community FCU and Weber FCU; and two $41 million Rhode Island credit unions, Alliance Blackstone Valley FCU in Pawtucket and Blackstone Rive FCU in Woonsocket.
