Bigger Than Macys, CU Behind Todays Balloon Parade

SAN DIEGO – San Diego County Credit Union this morning will have its name attached to its second high-profile event here in two weeks.

The credit union is the presenting sponsor of the San Diego Big Bay Balloon Parade, which it has sponsored for the past nine years. The parade will start downtown at 10 a.m., and is expected to attract more than 100,000 people who will view 20 giant character balloons – more than appear in any other parade in the country, including the more famous Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade.

Among those balloons will be San Diego County Credit Union’s 30-foot high sailboat inflatable. The parade will be broadcast live on local TV, and at 8 a.m. on Friday, Dec. 30 on the USA Network.

Last week San Diego County Credit Union sponsored the Poinsettia Bowl, a sponsorship it announced it was renewing for 2012 earlier this week.
