BILLINGS, Mont. – Drivers began lining up at just after midnight Thursday to take advantage of the $1.81-a-gallon gas special at the Kwik Way station–a courtesy of Billings FCU.

The credit union subsidy saved motorists about $2 per gallon and cost the credit union around $90,000.
Cars were lined up at the Kwik Way by 5 a.m., an hour before the sale began. Directed by credit union staff members and guards from Sundown Security, there was a steady stream of cars past the four gas pumps.
Staff members from the credit union filled the tank and washed car windows.
The event was publicized in the local newspaper and at the credit union’s branches.
