'Bowl Loan' Supports Michigan State Spartans And Fans

EAST LANSING, Mich. — MSU FCU is doing its part to make sure the Michigan State University football team is well supported when they play Stanford in the Rose Bowl Jan. 1.

The $2.5 billion credit union is offering a its "Bowl Loan" to the school's students and Spartans fans to cover expenses to attend battle — the school's first trip to the New Year's game since 1988.

The minimum loan amount is $1,000, with no maximum, and the term is 18 months, risk priced at 6.9% for the best credit.

"We want to support the Michigan State football team and their fans any way we can," said Sarah Bohan, VP of corporate relations, who estimates the average loan size will be $5,000.

It's not cheap to make it to the game. ESPN.com reported that a package that includes a ticket, charter airfare from Lansing, Mich., to Los Angeles, four nights at a hotel and transportation to and from the Rose Bowl costs $8,090 for two people.

Going a la carte will cost travelers at least $1,000 for airfare, the website stated. Student tickets to the game sold through the school cost $150 plus a $25 processing fee.
