LUBBOCK, Texas A former assistant accountant at a WesTex FCU branch was sentenced Friday to 37 months in prison and ordered to pay $690,000 restitution for a three-year embezzlement scheme.
Armelinda “Irma” Castillo, 27, typically stole the money in batches of from $100 to $1,000 then deposited the funds into her account or her boyfriend’s account at the $60 million credit union. The thefts occurred between April 2009 and April 2012.
Castillo pleaded guilty in December to one count of misapplication of bank funds by a bank employee.
