The $422-million, one-time leather workers’ credit union, based approximately 35 miles south of Boston, currently serves more than 2 million people in four counties: Plymouth, Bristol, Norfolk and Barnstable. It application to the Division of Banks would add the Bay State’s Nantucket and Dukes counties, as well as Bristol, Newport, Kent, Providence and Washington counties in Rhode Island – virtually all of Rhode Island – giving it a FOM covering more than 4 million people in the two states.

Separately, Fall River Municipal CU, located near the Rhode Island line, has applied to add everyone who is educated in the Bay State’s Bristol, Plymouth, and Barnstable counties, as well as everyone who lives in Kent, Providence, Bristol and Newport counties in Rhode Island.
