Riverside Federal Credit Union in Buffalo is moving into nearby Amherst for the first time with a deal to purchase a recently closed branch of Greater Buffalo Savings Bank.
The branch was built two years ago and closed this year after the bank's sale to First Niagara Financial Group Inc. The credit union agreed to pay $1.3 million for the building.
The credit union was formed in 1941 by employees of the General Motors Corp. Town of Tonawanda engine plant. The credit union has more than 5,200 members and assets of about $43 million.
